Reforma National Conference VII- Lowriders and Luchadores in Your Library

November 6

In this fun, spirited lecture and workshop, Cathy Camper, the librarian author of Lowriders in Space graphic novel series, will talk about culturally-specific library programming that focuses on STEM topics, local history, and boy readers! Use lowriders or luchadores, zines or hip hop to connect the library to the community!

This presentation will inspire any library with a big enough parking lot to create a community event based on the culture of your community. Librarians will leave with ideas for how to connect with people who haven’t used the library before, to offer them resources (car repair information, Spanish and Indigenous resources, etc.). In turn, libraries will consider how they might become repositories of local histories they’ve never had before.

This conversational lecture and workshop will be presented in English.
